Well, if you listened to Lady Gaga, he mixed all her hits into one song, quite beautifully if I may add. That’s why he topped Gaga at her own songs. I’m sure she could do the same if she really wanted but the way they put it together sounded pretty good. I hate to say this, but I’m surprised he wasn’t on American Idol or something…However, then I would completely hate him.
Why is this even a topic of dicussion? I don’t understand why acoustic music seems to deem a level of impressiveness when this “performance piece” was probably discussed casually over lunch and put together in an hour. Anyone who thinks this type of boring drivel is more “authentic” or interesting than original pieces of music that don’t try to force feed modesty into everyone’s face is a shithead.

Meh. It’s good but guess what it wasn’t made for this genre. You just think you impress yourself and other people by not liking anything pop. Most likely you have a thing for guys and music like this so the combination is fantastic to you. They will never have the showmanship like she does.

I personally think this is REALLY good. I wouldnt say its better than Lady Gaga herself but the way Lady Gaga does it and the way these guy do it is two TOTALLY different ways to interpret the songs. They did an AMAZING job with mixing the songs together, plus the guys voice is awesome.

I hate Lady Gaga but I kind of like this. But that is partly because he has a better voice and he’s singing to an acoustic guitar. Most pop songs, in my opinion, sound 100% better when played acoustically, because it takes away all the fake beats and stuff.

Current fans may spring to buy it, so might people who would prefer not to buy the pop versions of her original songs. Putting a single or two like that on iTunes may be a good way for her to make

On the other hand people like the two in the video above can make good covers. The other day I heard the cover of the Johnny Cash song, Hurt, done by Nine Inch Nails. While I love Johnny Cash and that song, I completely understood the appeal of the Nine Inch Nails version. I have never been a big fan of other Nine Inch Nails songs, but the lyrics represented in a different way was unique to the band and most likely appeals to rock fans. If covers don’t have something distinct and unique about them, why bother covering them at all?
Saying this song is awful may be your own opinion, but people also have other opinions on the originals of these songs. It’s all a matter of taste. Saying that people with different opinions are “smoking something” is a rather unreasonable conclusion to make.

Lady Gaga’s music is pretty awful. Some of her lyrics not so much. A friend of mine covered Bad Romance and it was WAY better. Turning annoying pop songs into a good piece of music with actual meaning is something that is constantly impressive to me. What a great singer, but my guess is it’d be hard for a mainstream crowd to ever get past his sexual orientation enough for him to do anything but showtunes professionally. That’s a really despicable part about American culture.
Also, I have to point out that live, Lady Gaga still really is an incredible singer. That’s cold hard fact, there, and this guy doesn’t quite beat her, honestly, but he might match her.
I’m not a fan of either, personally, but I can acknowledge talent. However, the medley itself isn’t a good one, in my opinion. Although I have only heard one of Lady Gaga’s songs prior to this, I could easily tell where the songs changed, cutting in and out, and it was distracting. Medleys should flow, and a Yale student should know that.

I’m going to have to agree with the haters, but I’ll do it constructively.
For one hearing these lyrics being sung by a man seems a little effeminate to me. Also, it’s done well but what makes this special? The fact that it has almost no production value and only an acoustic guitar? Not really special in any case, but I think the fact that some of the lyrics are just nonsensical sounds makes a little more sense coming from a crazy, deranged post-op w/ a drug addiction problem, rather than a slightly effeminate male.
None the less, they did a good job, but I just feel like it wasn’t necessary and didn’t stand out.

The lyrics aren’t nonsensical sounds, no matter how badly written they may be. You’re just trying to justify the fact that the Lady Gaga version of these songs were made in a factory with machines and computer programs, as opposed to actual human hands playing instruments and an actual human voice without autotune and effects.
So what makes this special, you ask? Talent. It doesn’t matter what the lyrical content is in association with the person vocalizing them. It’s pretty close-minded of you to say that it does. Someone sounds a little homophobic and ignorant, if you ask me.
