Guy With Sword Through Neck At During The “Chadak” Ritual

Paul O'Flaherty 10

I so wish I could say that this photo from Reuters is fake, but I don’t believe it is.

A Hindu devotee with his neck pierced with a knife attends the “Chadak” ritual at Krishanadevpur village, north of Kolkata April 13, 2012. Hundreds of Hindu devotees attend the ritual, held to worship the Hindu deity of destruction Lord Shiva, on the last day of the Bengali calendar year. The photographer was unable to check the veracity of the action of this devotee.

Well, either it’s fake, or it’s heavily bent. The angle of the knife at the point of “entry” is significantly different than at the point of “exit”. Beyond that, the placement would have had to be absolutely perfect in order to avoid irreparably (at least, given the resources likely available to a man as gaunt as he) damaging vital organs… so it’s (nigh) impossibly unlikely.

Well there is the glossed over notion that all weapon blades are straight because they’re not. Many types of blade are heavily bent by design, not least what looks like a home made blade… just saying, it’s a possibility. :)

completely fake, there is no way someone can survive that size of an object in the cervical spine.  Maybe a long nail, but a sword, no way.

Suspiciously low turban.  The thing is though, many Indians would accept this as real without question.

Sorry to say that could well be a real picture … the man’s Trachea is brought significantly as are the muscles on each side of the neck .. there is space to go between the spine and assorted “tubes” however if it is real i hope he had it done “professionally” … nicking an artery on either side would certainly dent his day !

Step back, take a deep breath. Admit to yourself… something something

Of course it’s a fake.  How can anyone doubt it?  Unless they’re broken mentally.
