Sometimes it doesn’t matter how well you watch your step as this girl in Xi’an, northern China, found out the hard way. There’s nothing quite like the pavement collapsing beneath you, causing you to plummet 6 meters (almost 20 feet) into the darkness to ruin your day.

Thankfully for this girl a passing cab driver spotted the ground having a serious attack of the munchies and hurtled into action to save her.

A teenage girl in China learned the hard way that walking and talking on a cell phone can be hazardous to your health — after falling into a sinkhole.
The incident, which was captured on surveillance video in the city of Xian, shows the teen chatting away as she walks down the sidewalk.
The girl fails to notice a pair of safety cones, which were placed in an area where water had eroded the ground underneath the pavement.
Just as the teen reaches the far right side of the video, she can be seen breaking through the weakened cement and falling into the hole.
