We Need Your Help, and It’s Important.

Sara 0

It’s a sad day here for the ScrwMedia family as one of our own, Steven Hodson, a contributing poster to Urlybits, lost his wife Kim after a long fight with cancer and several chronic illnesses. Steven has been a blogger for just about as long as the word has been around, and has written for a number of sites large and small. Over the years Steven has served as a mentor and friend to many in the tech community.

He has been unable to work outside the home for the past several years due to being Kim’s full-time caretaker, something most of us cannot imagine dealing with. We would like to give back and support Steven in his time of grief and ensure that Kim’s cremation expenses are not another burden on him during this difficult time.

We have set a goal of $2,000 to cover her cremation cost and hopefully a little extra to see him through while he begins the process of rebuilding. We are donating $200 ourselves to kick this off, and hope that you guys can find it in your hearts to make a donation, however big or small, to help us with this. Every dollar counts, and it will be going to something so very important – not a nameless, faceless charity, but a dear friend in need. Between us all $2,000 should be easy to raise, but it would mean the world to the man who has just lost the center of his own world.

Please use the widget below to donate if you can, and spread the word.

Tearjerker – Dog Braves Traffic To Stay With Fatally Struck Companion

The loyalty of animals can be truly heart-wrenching. I’m left wondering though, why the person decided to film the dogs instead of just moving them off the road? Fear of being bitten maybe? The lab looks fairly passive, perhaps her could just have moves the dog that was struck to the side of the road and the black lab would have followed.

Los Angeles county animal control officials are heralding the loyalty of a black Labrador retriever that braved traffic to stay by another dog that was fatally struck by a car.

A motorist who saw the dogs on a La Puente street Wednesday morning put down traffic cones to alert other drivers and shot video of the dogs. The video released Saturday showed the female Labrador lying next to a motionless, yellow Labrador as vehicles pass dangerously close to them.

The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control says the 2-year-old dog, who animal shelter staff and volunteers have named Grace, appears to have been well cared for.

However, nobody has come forward to claim her so she is up for adoption.

I feel so bad for this kid. He’s probably the 3rd wheel in this picture as well.

8th Grade Boy Posts Touching Video About Being the Victim of Bullying

His name is Jonah, and according to his video, in which he never says a word, he has been the victim of bullying since he was in 1st grade. This is a heart-wrenching piece, and I really hope he is able to get some help. Talk your kids about bullying, no one should go through this.
